Spare your change for SUZY
Do you remember Suzy? She is a life-sized figure of a girl in a blue dress with a leg brace, holding a teddy bear and donation box for Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS). Suzy is a long-time ambassador and our iconic donation box, who helps raise awareness and funds for essential programmes and services for over 700 of our clients with cerebral palsy or multiple disabilities. Since 1984, she has been stationed at various locations around Singapore such as in malls or supermarkets.

World Cerebral Palsy (CP) Day is commemorated yearly on 6 October to raise awareness for cerebral palsy; a lifelong condition that affects muscle movement and postures. Being the leading social service agency assisting persons with the condition, CPAS dedicates October as World Cerebral Palsy Month.

We are proud to announce that our corporate partner, St. James’s Place Wealth Management is generously matching up to S$50,000 for donations to our campaign! With your strong support, we aim to achieve a target of S$100,000 in donations. All donations under this campaign will also qualify for dollar-for-dollar matching, thanks to the Enhanced Fund-raising (EFR) Programme by Tote Board and the Government. Your effort will be multiplied, so every dollar counts.
On 5 September 2020 at 6pm, we premiered our first-ever Charity Livestream 2020 Event! We had an exciting line-up of performances by CPAS School students, local singer-songwriters Jack & Rai, celebrity shout-outs, and a surprise live auction segment.

The event was a huge success because of your support for our cause and organisation. We would like to specially thank you for showing up for us in times of need, and for your generosity shown.

Catch our livestream if you missed it!
Meet our new friend, humanoid Robot Ella, who “works” at our Psychology Department! She helps students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) develop and practise social-emotional skills. Similar to us, Ella can smile, laugh, walk and speak! She is able to tune in on emotions, express empathy, act appropriately in social situations, and self-motivate.

With Ella’s full range of facial muscles, she can model most emotions utilising exaggerated expressions. Our students, especially those with ASD, are usually intrigued by technology and are excited to learn and engage with her. With a cohesive curriculum in place, students with ASD will learn to identify emotions, participate in conversations with her, and increase their communication skills. For a start, Ella will start interacting with students from our Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children as well as CPAS School.

As part of our ongoing efforts to advocate for cerebral palsy and an inclusive society, we are looking to conduct more School and Corporate Engagement Sessions in 2021! We want to share more about the work we do and ways in which you can contribute to build a kinder community for persons with special needs.

We’ve worked with schools and corporates on meaningful projects to create positive impact for over 700 beneficiaries. From school’s Value in Action (VIA) programme to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, chat with us at donate@cpas.org.sg if you would like to find out more!
