Meet our new friend, humanoid Robot Ella,
who “works” at our Psychology Department!
She helps students with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD) develop and practise
social-emotional skills. Similar to us, Ella
can smile, laugh, walk and speak! She is
able
to tune in on emotions, express empathy, act
appropriately in social situations, and
self-motivate.
With Ella’s full
range of facial muscles, she can model most
emotions utilising exaggerated expressions.
Our students, especially those with ASD, are
usually intrigued
by technology and are excited to learn and
engage with her. With a cohesive curriculum
in place, students with ASD will learn to
identify emotions, participate in
conversations
with her, and increase their communication
skills. For a start, Ella will start
interacting with students from our Early
Intervention Programme for Infants and
Children
as well as CPAS School.

As part of our ongoing efforts to advocate
for cerebral palsy and an inclusive society,
we are looking to conduct more School and
Corporate Engagement Sessions in 2021! We
want to share more about the work we do and
ways in which you can contribute to build a
kinder community for persons with special
needs.
We’ve worked with schools and corporates on
meaningful projects to create positive
impact for over 700 beneficiaries. From
school’s Value in Action (VIA) programme to
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
initiatives, chat with us at
donate@cpas.org.sg
if you would like to find out more!
